Dr. Robert Sammons received his Ph.D. from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, his M.D. from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and was trained in TMS at the Harvard School of Medicine. He has been a leader in the TMS field, serving in numerous capacities with the Clinical TMS Society (CTMSS). He has been a member of the Outreach, Legal, Business and Ethics, and Annual Meeting committees, serving as Chairman of the 2023 CTMSS Annual Meeting. He was elected to the Board of Directors and, from there, elected to the Executive committee.  Dr. Sammons was a lecturer for the Pulses course, and has presented three CTMSS Grand Rounds, most recently the August 2023 CME, Anatomy Of Theta Burst. In 2023, he was made a Fellow in the CTMSS and was awarded the first ever Legacy award at the annual meeting. He also serves on the Foundation For the Advancement of TMS Board of Directors, which established the Bob Sammons TMS Research Fund.

Dr. Sammons was added as an adjunct research professor at Colorado Mesa University to develop and publish research and clinical trial information using TMS technology, with the hope that TMS will be approved for treating other conditions, including PTSD. As a veteran, he is especially interested in this issue with regard to the VA system.

In 2014, Dr. Sammons and Christopher Blackburn co-founded TMS Solutions with the goal of expanding the availability of transcranial magnetic stimulation for the treatment of depression. They are actively seeking strategic partnerships with like-minded doctors and clinics to work with them in this life-changing process.
