Depression Treatment For Veterans – VA Ads 40 TMS Therapy Devices

??ver 60 percent of our patients who have received the TMS Therapy? treatment have reported that their depression improved or disappeared.??/span>

If you??e watched the news, depression and its treatment is a big issue for returning veterans. In the four year period from 2006-2010. 2.1 million veterans received mental health treatment from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, this according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office. In a response to the remission results utilizing TMS Therapy among the civilian population, the VA announced it is rolling out 40 rTMS devices.

In a March 9th piece on Fox News, reporter Terace Garnier wrote an article about how the ??A enlists help of electromagnetic head device to treat veterans battling depression??/a>. Garnier stated that ??he U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is providing a new option to help fight the disorder called Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, or rTMS therapy. It?? a device that uses an electromagnet charged with electricity that is applied to specific points on the patient?? head. The powerful magnetic field can then affect the brain cells of the person suffering from depression.??/p>

Showing their commitment to this treatment, the VA recently purchased 40 rTMS devices to be distributed at facilities across the country. In his article Garnier noted that ??wenty rTMS devices, costing up to $100,000, will be delivered this year and 20 more are planned for 2018. This decision came nearly three weeks after President Trump announced that it was his top priority to ensure that veterans get the care they need when and where they need it.??/p>

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). TMS Therapy? is not a new option or fad, as it is FDA cleared and has been used to treat millions of patients since 2008 and offers those depression sufferers who have failed at the medication options a roughly 60-70% chance of remission of their symptoms. It is covered by most of the main line insurance companies, though the VA has been slower to adopt it as an alternative to the typical drug based treatments.

When speaking with Christoper Blackburn, co-founder and patient advocate of TMS Solutions, Blackburn stated that;

??ver 60 percent of our patients who have received TMS Therapy? treatment have reported that their depression improved or disappeared.??

He also noted, “”we have taken a tremendous amount of time dedicating ourselves to achieve validation within the VA and DOD systems to provide TMS therapy to Active Duty service men, women and Veterans.  TMS Solutions remains the only civilian facility to achieve the ‘preferred Choice’ status withing the VA system actively treating in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Idaho.??/p>

In working with Dr. Bob Sammons, Mesa Behavioral Health and TMS Solutions co-founder, along with Blackburn, they??e seen a marked difference in patients who have been treated with various prescription medications that, simply, didn’t work.  After TMS those same patients report feeling better and ??ore like themselves.””  Some still require reduced medication levels, while other achieve full remission. Only the doctor and the patient can determine the best course of action. Regardless, these changes in life, outlook, vitality and enjoyment, are felt by the patients and their families.
