Treating Depression With a Revolutionary TMS Treatment Is Now Available In Park City, Utah.

PRESS RELEASE: Monday, April 8, 2019.

Christopher Blackburn, co-founder of TMS Solutions, is pleased to announce Park City, Utah as the home to their eighth TMS Solutions clinic offering TMS Therapy for treatment-resistant depression.

Along with Dr. Melissa Lopez-Larson, they will begin treating patients on April 17th at 2750 Rasmussen Rd., Suite H-100 in beautiful Park City.  “”We are thrilled to be back in our home state of Utah offering this life changing technology,”” says Blackburn.  A Salt Lake City clinic is scheduled to open in late May.

TMS Solutions utilizes the latest in equipment and technology developed through a collaboration of Silicon Valley technology and forward-thinking medical scientists.  These devices utilize MRI-strength magnetic pulses to stimulate neurons in the area of the brain that controls mood and promotes the release of the chemicals targeted by antidepressants, all without the terrible side-effects of prescription drugs.  TMS therapy does not introduce electricity into the brain, and is not ECT, commonly known as shock therapy.

“”This technology is life changing in so many ways,”” says TMS Solutions’ Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Sammons, M.D., Ph.D.  While most major insurance carriers, Medicare, and the VA are currently only covering treatment for resistant depression, TMS is also showing great results in treating tinnitus, postpartum depression, anxiety, PTSD and addiction.  In fact, the FDA recently approved TMS for the treatment of OCD.  ??he treatment for depression is just the beginning of what we will see TMS used for in clinical settings in the years to come,??declares Dr. Sammons.

Blackburn notes that transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has been FDA-Approved since 2008, and is a physician-prescribed and supervised therapy.  ??MS is indicated for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adult patients who have failed to receive satisfactory improvement from prior antidepressant medication in the current episode,??says Blackburn.

Dr. Lopez-Larson is an Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, who currently has an outpatient practice in Park City, Utah.  She is very excited to add TMS Therapy to the list of biologically based treatments she can perform in her clinic.  She received her M.D. from the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine and performed her adult and child psychiatry training at Harvard Medical School training sites including Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital and Cambridge Hospital, respectively.  She is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist practicing for over 15 years in a variety of settings including academic research at the University of Cincinnati, Harvard Medical School and the University of Utah.

Depression is a disease that affects upwards of 15 million Americans and costs our economy more than $210 billion annually.  If antidepressants have failed, TMS may be the right answer.  To determine if TMS is appropriate for a patient, TMS Solutions conducts a comprehensive assessment of targeted symptoms and provides a detailed profile on the benefits and risks of treatment, so an individual can determine if TMS is an option they wish to pursue.
